Special exhibition in Frankfurt (Oder): Exploring Jewish life!
A special exhibition will open in Frankfurt (Oder) on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, highlighting the history and current work of the Jewish community in the city. Under the title “The Jewish community of Frankfurt (Oder) introduces itself,” visitors can visit the multifaceted exhibition in the Viadrina Municipal Museum from 4 p.m. This includes a total of 16 text panels and tells the story of Jewish life in Frankfurt (Oder), which goes back to the 13th century. The exhibition celebrates the work of the Jewish community, which was re-established in 1998, and offers both informative and emotional depth.
The opening will be celebratory with greetings from various personalities. Among other things, Dr. Tim S. Müller, the museum director, Larissa Bargtel, the chairwoman of the Jewish Community Frankfurt (Oder) e.V., and Andreas Büttner, the representative for combating anti-Semitism in the state of Brandenburg, will have their say. Martin Patzelt, the former mayor of Frankfurt (Oder), will also give an introductory lecture. The evening is musically framed by the Choir of Joy of Life, while Dr. Karl-Konrad Tschäpe moderated the event. Admission to the opening is free, and the exhibition runs until Sunday, November 9, 2025. From then on, entry to the regular exhibition costs 5.30 euros per person (reduced 3.40 euros).
