Seniors celebrate in the Spreewald: Autumn festival with cabaret and cake enjoyment!
The colorful leaves are falling and the temperatures are dropping – autumn has arrived. For many, this means it's time for social gatherings. A special highlight was the seniors' autumn festival, which was organized by WIS Wohnungsbaugesellschaft im Spreewald mbH. It took place in the auditorium of the Paul-Fahlisch-Gymnasium in Lübbenau and attracted numerous WIS tenants who were looking forward to an entertaining afternoon. How Niederlausitz Current reported that the visitors expected a varied program with laughter, dancing and interesting conversations.
The anticipation for the festival increased as soon as the guests arrived. There they were welcomed with home-baked cakes provided by the WIS trainees. The sale of these treats served as a fundraiser for DESWOS, which provides support for homeless people. WIS managing director Michael Jakobs and mayor Klaus Prietzel welcomed those present before the cabaret group “Gurkenspätlese” made the audience laugh with humorous sketches.
Entertainment and sociable atmosphere
The afternoon was characterized by happy sounds and movement. Entertainer Mario Kaulfers, who appeared in the role of the “section representative of the people's police”, created an exuberant atmosphere. With music from the “Disco Bee”, the dance floor quickly became a popular meeting place where the seniors rocked back and forth to the rhythms. To round things off, the WIS trainees organized a duck guessing game, which provided additional fun.
The participant Brigitte Grätz was convinced that the event was a success and praised the varied program. Many of the guests left the party with a piece of Black Forest cake in their hand - true to the motto: If you can celebrate, you can also take it home.
Outlook for further activities
But WIS has even more up its sleeve: From March 2026, a senior cabaret will be offered as part of the senior program. This takes place once a week and is aimed at those between 49 and 99 years old. Regine Lehmann-Lauenburg, an experienced cabaret artist with over 40 years of professional experience, takes over the management. No previous experience is necessary – anyone can take part. Wittich describes that the focus is on the fun of playing together and that participants should have a sense of humor and a bit of grit when learning the text.
Registration takes place via the senior representative Martina Broschinski in the Haus der Harmonie. Non-WIS tenants are also welcome here. You can make initial contact by phone on 03542 89416510 or by email at info@hdh-spreewald.de. Further information is available at www.hdh-spreewald.de.
The commitments of the WIS Wohnungsbaugesellschaft not only promise entertaining hours, but also a valuable opportunity for seniors to stay active in the community and make new acquaintances. So autumn not only remains colorful, but also brings many new opportunities for joy and togetherness.
