Fall break is just around the corner! From October 20th to November 3rd, 2025, all three cities in the region - Calau, Vetschau and Lübbenau - will offer a colorful program for children and families. So what are some exciting activities that you definitely shouldn't miss? A look at the individual offers shows that there is something for everyone!
Calau: Creativity and play
In Calau, where the heart of the city beats in the youth club at Mühlenstrasse 77, children can take part in exciting workshops daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from October 20th to 24th. Whether 3D printing, making artificial flowers, cooking or baking - the range is versatile. E-sports tournaments are also on offer. The city library (Straße der Jugend 24) also has some highlights: On October 28th, people can get creative with Halloween crafts from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and on October 30th there will be a reading by Maren Jäckel for children ages 5 and up at 4:30 p.m.
Vetschau: culture and nature
Vetschau is centrally located between the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve and the Lusatian Lake District, making the city an ideal destination for nature lovers and those interested in culture. The Raddusch Slavic Castle opens its gates every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and invites you to explore one of the oldest settlement histories in Lower Lusatia. The creative workshops such as potato printing (October 18th, 19th and 28th) and felting (October 25th, 26th and 28th) are particularly popular. On October 20th, kids can even make their own leather bag.

Lübbenau: Learning and playing
Things will be just as exciting in Lübbenau! A chess course for children between the ages of 7 and 17 will take place in the cultural center on Gleis 3 (Güterbahnhofstraße 57) from October 21st to 23rd, where the young thinkers can even receive a children's chess diploma at the end. On October 22nd at 10 a.m., the Sorbian-Wendish language school will show how plinses are baked, while from October 28th to 30th (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) a Lego construction site for children aged 7 and over awaits participants.
In addition, the Spreewald Museum (Topfmarkt 12) is offering an adventure tour for children aged 5 and over on October 22nd at 2 p.m. The children's meeting point in Schweitzer Eck (Dr.-Albert-Schweitzer-Straße 57) is available for younger guests aged 6 to 12. A free offer is offered here Monday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with wildlife activities in the first week and Halloween activities in the second week.
