Waste calendar 2026: Now only digital and in central locations!
New waste calendar 2026 for Oberspreewald-Lausitz: distribution at central locations, digitally optimized for environmental reasons.

Waste calendar 2026: Now only digital and in central locations!
From next year there will be an important change in the distribution of the waste calendar in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district. In order to conserve resources and respond to the changing needs of citizens, the 2026 waste calendar will no longer be automatically sent to all households. Instead, citizens can pick up their calendar at around 25 central display points from the last week of November 2025. This reports osl-online.de.
The background to this decision is the increasing use of digital offers from the Waste Disposal Association (AEV), such as the AEV app and various online services. In the past there were increasing problems with the delivery of the calendar, which led to dissatisfaction. A more environmentally friendly approach is also reflected in the smaller print runs of the calendar, which also remains available in the usual paper form. Alternatively, the 2026 waste calendar can also be downloaded as a PDF file from the AEV website.

Digitalization in waste management
Increasing digitalization plays a crucial role in waste management and extends far beyond the introduction of new functions such as the AEV app. Digital solutions enable more efficient waste management and open up new opportunities to meet the needs of citizens. How das-wissen.de shows, technologies such as smart trash cans and sensor technologies can help monitor fill levels in real time and optimize route planning for trash collections.
In addition, online platforms facilitate communication between waste authorities and citizens. In this way, inquiries, problems and pickup dates can be easily managed. These advances are not only more environmentally friendly, but also help improve customer satisfaction.
Overall, digitalization shows that it not only improves efficiency, but is also an important building block for sustainable waste management. The course has been set for a greener future and citizens are invited to actively participate.
