In Zierzow, a traditional snack bar will have an exciting new direction. Simone Rambow, 61, who has been working in the catering industry for many years, is planning to continue her long-standing career snack to convert into a party service. After a year-long health break, she is ready to take on the responsibility again, supported by her son Daniel and her loyal helpers. “I have a good knack for German cuisine and look forward to being able to offer our guests new dishes,” she says.
Their snack bar was once a popular meeting place, particularly known for the popular “Ossi noodles”, which remind many of the old GDR school meals. These nostalgic dishes will no longer be served every day, but the party service will cover all types of events - from family celebrations to village festivals, anyone can now ask for the menu they want. The new offering focuses on traditional German cuisine with classics such as goulash and vegetable casseroles.
A new beginning with a lot of support
The old sign for the snack bar will soon be taken down. Nevertheless, the kitchen remains in operation for the new party service. Rambow will attach particular importance to transparency: “The prices will depend on the orders; we don’t want to mislead anyone,” says the entrepreneur. Her long-standing suppliers and friends are there to help and advise her to make the restart as smooth as possible.
Parallel to this project, Daniel Rambow founded his own company “ZC Events”, which combines marquee rental and party service. “It works wonderfully together and we can now offer more together,” says Simone happily. Perhaps this combination can even be used to create new, joint events.
Catering on the rise
The catering industry has developed significantly in recent years. According to information from Statista Sales in Germany will reach almost 13 billion euros in 2023, and demand is growing steadily. More and more companies and private individuals are using catering services to get support at events. There are currently around 12,100 caterers in Germany, which shows that the industry is flourishing.
From weddings to birthday parties to corporate events – the variety of services offered is enormous.
