Commemorative event in Lübben: Stand up for peace together!
In a few days, precisely on November 16, 2025, a memorial event for Remembrance Day will take place in Lübben. From 2:00 p.m., residents and visitors will gather at the war grave memorial in Klein Lubolz, directly on Lubolzer Dorfstrasse, to commemorate the victims of war, violence and terror. Mayor Jens Richter will lay flowers as part of the ceremony, a sign of respect and mourning.
All citizens are cordially invited to take part in this important event and thus send a clear signal against forgetting. This memorial event takes place parallel to the house and street collection of the German War Graves Commission. V., which will run until November 25, 2025. The Volksbund is intensively committed to investigating fates, maintaining war cemetery sites and carrying out reconciliation work in Europe.
Donate in memory
In addition, all participants have the opportunity to contribute to the work of the Volksbund through donations. These can either be made directly to the volunteer collectors on site or online via the Volksbund’s digital donation box. A special highlight of the fundraising campaign will be on December 3rd, when District Administrator Sven Herzberger and Mayor Jens Richter call on the Lübben market square from 11:30 a.m. to strengthen and draw attention to the importance of a living culture of remembrance.
At a time when the memory of past conflicts and their consequences is becoming increasingly important, the active participation of citizens plays a crucial role. The city of Lübben would like to thank everyone in advance who is committed to ensuring the successful implementation of these value-adding events.
It is not only a day of remembrance, but also an opportunity to reflect on the lessons of the past. Joint behavior on such memorial days not only promotes historical awareness, but also connects generations in a valuable culture of remembrance.
