The playground in Mariannenpark in Leipzig has been given a new look and can now be used all year round. Environmental Mayor Heiko Rosenthal emphasizes how important this square is as a meeting place for the district's residents. The playground has been upgraded with a variety of new play equipment. The equipment includes, among other things, large and small climbing combinations with two slides, a rocker, a triple horizontal bar, as well as a floor-level carousel and a nest swing. A highlight are the playful touchpoints such as a petting stone in the shape of a seal, a play wall with a board and sliding game, and a sales counter for imaginative role-playing games. Even in the sand area, children can now find a sleigh to sit on and play in the sand - there is something for everyone here!
Redesign with foresight
As Mayor Thomas Dienberg explains, the renovation of the playground is part of a larger plan for integrated district development in Schönefeld. During the work, great emphasis was also placed on preserving monument preservation issues and taking citizens' ideas into account. The surface of the path connecting the Tummelwiese was also renewed in order to increase walking comfort for all users.
The total costs of the renovation measures amount to around 200,000 euros, with two thirds of the funds being covered by federal and state funding. The remaining third is the city of Leipzig's own funds. With such commitment you can truly see a good hand for the local infrastructure, from which the entire community ultimately benefits.
