Woldegker bowlers are planning a new hall: Is the solution for the 2nd Bundesliga coming?

In Woldegk, the bowling community is facing an exciting change: the bowlers of SG Mühlenwind 1948, who are active in the 2nd Bundesliga, are planning to build a new bowling hall. A building of its own would not only be a gift for the athletes, but also an answer to the current lack of space. [Uckermark Kurier]. serves. The hall is available with a plot of land, which makes negotiations with the city of Woldegk easier.

The Woldegk bowlers have put on a strong sporting performance in recent years. In the 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2022/23 seasons they celebrated the title of national champion in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State League, which ultimately led to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season. But the joy of sporting success is clouded by the infrastructural challenges. The home games currently have to be played in Neubrandenburg, as Woldegk does not yet have a multi-lane facility available. Nordkurier emphasizes that the bowlers complete their training sessions every week and receive intensive support from their families.

A new home for the bowlers

Discussions about purchasing the hall have already begun, and Ronny Lepczyk, the bowling/badminton section manager, is optimistic. The current need for an attractive cone building with outdoor facilities is obvious. An expansion of the Woldegker sports center is planned to include a four-lane bowling facility, with the good old hall representing a more cost-effective alternative. Personal contributions from the 17 active members of SG Mühlenwind are also planned to help design not only the interior but also the outdoor area.

Some of the technical equipment is already in place: the hall's heating system is working, but walls have to be removed and electrical work has to be carried out. A hygiene muscle is also missing so far: a sanitary container could offer a suitable temporary solution here. The effort is worth it: a new bowling alley would cost a six-figure euro amount. But there is great hope that official contracts will be concluded by the end of the year so that the bowlers will soon have a home for their home games again.

Challenges for the future

It will be an exciting time for the Woldegker bowlers in the 2nd Bundesliga: from October onwards they will face tougher opponents, including Hansa Stralsund, who were relegated from the first Bundesliga. With such a strong backdrop, the next competitions will be crucial for staying in the league. At the same time, the development of professional bowling in Germany is ensured, as reported by the German Kegler and Bowling Association, which currently has over 170,000 members. There is great enthusiasm for bowling, and the association and professional training plans are the heart of this sporting community.

Overall, the signs point to a new beginning for the Woldegk bowlers, with the vision of having their own bowling hall and the goal of creating unforgettable experiences in bowling. It remains exciting to see how the situation will develop and whether the desired contracts can be finalized this year.
