Turbine Potsdam defends title at NOFV championship!
Last weekend, June 14th and 15th, 2025, the NOFV club championship of the C-Juniors was held in Bitterfeld-Wolfen on the site of the SG Rot-Weiß Thalheim. The U15 juniors of Turbine Potsdam showed an impressive performance and were able to defend their title from the previous year. With a record of five wins, twelve gates scored and without conceding them, they impressively underlined their dominance in the Northeast German Football Association.
On the first day of the tournament, things started equally well. In the first game against Hertha BSC Berlin, the young talents achieved a victory through a standard situation. This was followed by a furious 6-0 win against 1. FC Magdeburg, which impressively demonstrated the team's offensive strength. The end of the first day was a 3-0 against 1. FC Neubrandenburg 04, which ensured an optimal starting point for the second day.
a strong final
The second day of the tournament had an exciting challenge. In the game against RB Leipzig, the Potsdamers were able to win after a corner kick, although the Leipzigers were revoked a supposed leadership goal. In the last game of the club championship, they finally triumphed 1-0 against FC Carl Zeiss Jena and thus secured the overall victory.
This brilliant performance of the young turbines is not only a great success, but also confirmation of the excellent youth work that is done in the club. These successes from the youth area have been part of the spreading trend in girls' and women's football in Germany, where the registrations of young players have risen rapidly in recent years. According to the North German Football Association (NFV), the number of football-playing girls up to 16 years in northern Germany has almost doubled within a decade. This shows how popular football is as a sport among young women and how important competitions like the C-Juniors are championships for their funding.
A look into the future
In the middle of this success story, there is a gratifying development in German women's football. Germany goes with great ambitions to UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 in Switzerland, where defending champion Spain faces them. According to current statistics, over 75 percent of women surveyed show lively interest in football in Germany, which underlines the potential and popularity of this sport. It is particularly exciting that the German teams are not only internationally strong, but also in the Bundesliga, which is dominated by top clubs such as Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg.
The promotion and viewing of talented players in the youth area is more important than ever. Therefore, a look at the successes such as the title win of the U15 juniors of Turbine Potsdam should not only be seen as a determination of a sporty triumph, but also as a sign of growing and significant movement in girls and women's football. Because the best is just imminent!
The young turbines have shown that they prove a good hand in the development and support of the young talents. We can be excited to see what further success these committed players will achieve in the future.
