Village development in Lower Saxony: Secure 40% funding now!
Nowadays, the promotion of rural regions is a central concern that not only aims to preserve cultural heritage but also strengthen community life. Especially those Schunter-Riede village region in the towns of Essenrode, Flechtorf, Lehr and Wendhausen shows how the village image can be sustainably improved through targeted measures. From June 17, 2025, a new funding initiative will be running here that will support private projects with up to 40 percent.
The minimum funding amount is 2,500 euros, with the entire process working according to the reimbursement principle. Private individuals are invited to submit funding applications. In order to benefit from the funding, the buildings must have been built before 1950. A digital information event on June 25, 2025 at 6 p.m. will provide information about the details of the measures. Funded activities include, among other things, the preservation and conversion of local buildings as well as the renovation of facades, roofs and windows.
Funding opportunities and application process
The funding initiative is particularly versatile. In addition to the renovation of old buildings, agricultural and listed properties can also be included in the program. The focus is also on converting unused areas, be it in the roof structure or in former stables. At this point, Silke Keihe from Mensch und Region Hannover can help as a contact person keihe@mensch-und-region.de or by telephone on 0511 444454.
The initiative in Brandenburg is part of a nationwide concept that is being implemented in states such as Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, and other federal states are being pursued. The measures are aimed not only at improving buildings, but also at creating community facilities and revitalizing village life.
LEADER approach and regional cooperation
The LEADER approach as it appears Thünen is described, represents the connection between regional development actions. The aim is to exploit regional potential and strengthen cooperation between local governments, business and civil society. In Germany, around two billion euros are available for the 321 LEADER regions for the funding period until 2022, with local actors able to design the integration strategies themselves.
These initiatives not only revitalize rural areas, but also create a sustainable space for the future. However, success depends heavily on the active participation of the villagers, who should bring their ideas and wishes into the funding projects.
Overall, it is clear that, even today, a good knack for promoting rural places of origin is necessary in order to strengthen their individual characters and community identities. Take advantage of the opportunity! Take part in the digital information event and contribute your ideas.
