Village development in Lower Saxony: Now secure 40% funding!

In today's world, the promotion of rural regions is a central concern that is not only the preservation of cultural heritage, but also the strengthening of community life. Especially the Schunter-Riede in the towns of Essenrode, Flechtorf, Lehrke and Wendhausen shows how the village picture can be improved sustainably through targeted measures. From June 17, 2025, a new funding initiative will run here that supports private projects with up to 40 percent.

The minimum funding amount is 2,500 euros, whereby the entire process works according to the reimbursement principle. Private individuals are invited to apply for funding applications. In order to benefit from the funding, the buildings must have been built before 1950. A digital information event on June 25, 2025 at 6 p.m. Funded activities include the preservation and conversion of local buildings as well as the renovation of facades, roofs and windows.

funding opportunities and application procedures

The funding initiative is particularly versatile. In addition to the renovation of old buildings, agricultural and listed objects can also be included in the program. The focus is also on the conversion of unused areas, be it in the roof structure or in former stables. At this point, Silke Keihe from man and region of Hanover can help as a contact person, which can be reached at keihe@mensch-und-region.de as well as by phone at 0511 444454.

The initiative in Brandenburg is part of a nationwide concept that in countries like Baden-württemberg href = "https://www.bmel.de/de/themen/laendliche-regions/foerderung-des-laendliche-raumes/bund-und-laender-foerderung/dorfent-foerschwerpunke-laender.html"> Bayern , and other federal states. The measures not only aim at the building improvement, but also on the creation of community facilities and the revival of village life.

Leader approach and regional cooperation

The Leader approach, as described on Thünen , stands for the connection between regional development actions. The aim is to use the regional potential and to strengthen the cooperation between local government, economy and civil society. In Germany, around two billion euros are available for the 321 leader regions for the funding period by 2022, whereby local actors can design the integration strategies themselves.

With these initiatives, rural areas not only revive, but also creates a sustainable space for the future. However, success depends heavily on the active participation of the villagers who should bring their ideas and wishes into the funding projects.

Overall, it can be seen that a good hand is necessary for the promotion of rural origin places to strengthen their individual characters and community identities. Take the opportunity! Take part in the digital information event and bring in your ideas.
