From December: New RE20 rail connection connects Berlin and Cottbus!
Königs Wusterhausen, Deutschland - The Brandenburg region can look forward to a noticeable improvement in public transport. From December 2023, the new regional train will establish the connection between Lübben, Königs Wusterhausen, BER and Berlin Airport. These important news was confirmed by the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB), such as MAZ-Online reported.
The RE20 will run once an hour and enables a direct connection to Cottbus by restarting Dresdner Bahn. The Blankenfelde-Mahlow, Rangsdorf and Zossen train stations will be reactivated on this route. This was announced by Alexander Kaczmarek, Group representative of Deutsche Bahn, at a business conference.

But that's not all! The Airport Express (FEX) will also take a new path via the main train station, Potsdamer Platz and Südkreuz from December. A branch between Mahlow and Blankenfelde will head for the airport station and enable the route to Cottbus via Königs Wusterhausen. From now on, the passengers from Berlin Central Station will get to the airport in just 23 minutes. Before that, this was the case in 39 minutes.
The regional railway R20 will enable travelers to get from Königs Wusterhausen to the Südkreuz in about 30 minutes. First, the RE20 will end in Lübbenau, whereby only a few trains will run after and off Cottbus. The planned two -track expansion of the route to Cottbus should be completed by 2027.

Another plus for travelers is the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB), which comprises no less than 36 public and private transport companies.
