Next weekend, Calau will once again be the celebratory backdrop for the 32nd city festival. The city will attract its visitors to the city center with a colorful bouquet of activities from August 15th to 17th, 2025. This year the focus is particularly on music, refreshing activities from local clubs and culinary delicacies that offer something for every palate.
The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the new Ferris wheel, which is making its rounds for the first time between the town church and the House of Local History. With an impressive height of 33 meters, it will not only be an eye-catcher, but also a symbol of the team spirit of the organizers. Sophia Lorenz, the head of the Lorenz showman business, emphasizes how important cohesion is during construction. “It’s really a collective effort,” explains the fifth generation representative of her family business.
Attractions and Activities
The Ferris wheel, which was transported in three large semi-trailers, weighs around 100 tons and takes around eight hours to assemble. A total of 26 gondolas, each of which can accommodate six people, invite visitors to an unforgettable view of the festival grounds. After the festival, dismantling will be completed in about six hours, as Calau reports.
Associations in the region are involved in various activities that invite visitors to take part. Whether live music or a cozy get-together – the atmosphere is guaranteed here. For gourmets, there is a diverse range of local specialties that will please the heart and the stomach in equal measure.

The Spreewald, known for its picturesque rivers and traditional culture, not only impresses with a varied program of events on the festival weekend. The many smaller events in the Spreewald that round off the offering are irrelevant, but also worth mentioning.
