Football fans celebrate variety: Summer events of the scene in Germany

Cottbus, Deutschland - Football fans in Germany moved a lot this summer. Various tournaments and events shaped the summer break and showed the liveliness of the fan scenes. The focus was particularly on the annual antecra tournament on St. Pauli, which was a real highlight this year. In cooperation with the USP support group, visitors from different countries, including Italy and France, came to Hamburg to work for anti -racism and against discrimination. According to fascination fankurve was a meeting point for fans of many clubs, which together set a strong sign.

The weekend was opened on Friday, May 30th, with a German and English-language harbor tour that addressed the dark Nazi story and forced labor in the port of Hamburg. In the evening it continued in the Knust, where prominent representatives discussed the state repression against football fans. Among other things, voices from Hamburg, Bremen, Jena, Marseille and Tel Aviv were represented by the Vice President Luise Gottberg. variety and competition on the square

It became sporty on Saturday, when exciting games took place as part of the Antra tournament. In the final of the Flinta*tournament, the players from Discover Football from Kreuzberg prevailed against the red star from Leipzig. In addition, Infamous Youth and the Black Claw team rival in the mixed team final with a young team from film city Youth, Giovanile and Ragazzi. Overall, the tournament attracted more than 2,000 visitors who not only played football, but also celebrated in the fan rooms of the Millerntor Stadium.

But that was by no means everything the summer break had to offer. Fan scenes from cities such as Frankfurt, Bochum and Dresden also organized numerous events. In Frankfurt, the 25th anniversary of the friendship in Bergamo was celebrated with sayings and a common graffiti. In the meantime, the "Children's Day in Dynamoland" took place in the Albert Schwarz-Bad Heidenau, in which over 700 participants from family centers and sports clubs experienced a happy festival. The annual summer cup of the east curve was celebrated in Bochum, which came up with various stands and activities.

A look at racism in football

The need for such committed events is underpinned by the current challenges in football. The discussion about racism in sport is more important than ever. According to BPB Racist stereotypes are still spread. One example is the decline in racist incidents that the DFB 2023 reported, while an independent position documented increasing numbers.

With the anti-racism campaign "Football time is the best time against racism", the DFB tries to set an example that goes beyond the professional players. This campaign is aimed specifically at local amateur teams, which are often a first point of contact for young migrants: inside and refugees. It remains to be seen whether these initiatives will actually lead to a fundamental rethink in the leadership structure of football.

The summer activities of the fan scenes are not only sporty, but also socially of great importance. They stand for more democracy, diversity and a sign against racism in football. The Bundesliga and EU soccer associations have the responsibility to support and further promote this positive trend.
