Construction work in regional transport: RE1 between Erkner and Fürstenwalde affected!

Train travelers in East Brandenburg must expect significant restrictions on the RE1 regional train line in the coming weeks. From June 22nd to July 6th, the connections between Erkner and Fürstenwalde will be dominated by Deutsche Bahn's construction work. The focus of these measures is particularly on the new Fangschleuse train station, which is intended to help improve regional transport connections. How rbb24 reported, all trains in this section will be canceled from Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 3 a.m. on the weekends from June 20th to 23rd and June 27th to 30th. During the rest of the time, the frequency of trains is significantly reduced; There is only one train per hour and in both directions.

But that's not all: travelers will also face further challenges in July. How ODEG announced that trains in the section between Erkner and Fürstenwalde will be completely canceled until July 25th. The suffering portion of passengers will soon travel the entire route from Magdeburg via Potsdam and Berlin to Cottbus, which suffers from these restrictions.

Replacement traffic planned

In order to meet the needs of commuters and travelers, the ODEG is setting up a rail replacement service with buses that will run approximately twice an hour during the full closure. An additional bus is planned especially for the section between Erkner and Fangschleuse, which could certainly help to ease the situation. The construction work, which is loud maz online, which will last until 2026, will also lead to further deviations in regional transport. Additional restrictions are likely to be expected, especially between Berlin and Erkner, as extensive construction work is currently being carried out at Köpenick train station.

One point that is important for many travelers is the increased number of trains during rush hours between Frankfurt (Oder) and Erkner. These offer a limited number of seats, which is not ideal at peak times. In the future, the new Fangschleuse train station will also be served regularly, which is at least a small ray of hope for everyone.

The diversions and changes in timetables could also affect connecting passengers, especially those who rely on the S-Bahn line S3 to get around Berlin. Travel information and current updates are available on the ODEG and VBB websites and are worthwhile to avoid unpleasant surprises.

During this time of construction work and necessary adjustments, there is a lot to consider for all rail travelers. A good hand in planning trips could be at hand to avoid the inconveniences as best as possible.
