Storm damage in Mühlenbecker Land: clean-up work is ongoing!

After the devastating storms at the end of June, which were caused by the “Ziros” depression, the Mühlenbecker Land is still dealing with the aftermath. On June 23rd and 26th, both the south of Oberhavel and the north of Berlin were hit hard. According to maz-online.de, the fire department is taking care of the fire Mühlenbecker Landes to secure branches, trees and construction site signs while the clean-up work continues.

The spokeswoman for the municipal administration, Rita Ehrlich, confirms that the municipal workers and the parks department are working tirelessly to repair the storm damage. "The deployment sites are processed according to priority. Every tree must be thoroughly checked before public areas are released," she informs. Unfortunately, finding suitable companies to carry out the tree work is difficult.

Ongoing challenges

Although most public streets, avenues, playgrounds and swimming areas are now safe again, some areas remain cordoned off. The Gutspark in Schönfließ, which will remain closed for a long time, is particularly affected. Access to the hiking trails around Summter See and certain forest areas in Mühlenbecker Land is also restricted. The administration urges citizens to respect the barriers. These security measures have repeatedly been vandalized, which not only endangers the clean-up work, but also ties up valuable work capacity that is urgently needed.

“There is a danger to life in the cordoned off areas,” warns Ehrlich, adding that heat and dryness could further weaken the storm-damaged trees. A lot of sensitivity is still required here to ensure the safety of the population.

What's next?

The community is faced with the challenge of negotiating with various land owners, including the forestry industry. This shows how important good cooperation is in order to quickly advance the necessary restoration. Citizens were also informed that they would have to prepare for longer measures to restore full security to the affected areas.

With a positive outlook on the future, it is to be hoped that the community, together with the experts, can bring the situation under control as soon as possible. Citizens are called upon to stand together and have the patience necessary to support this process. After all, everyone can help ensure that nature will soon show its best side again - without any storm damage.

For me it is now important not only to draw attention to the challenges, but also to identify solutions and opportunities for improvement. In a time when many things are characterized by uncertainty, it is important to look to the future with optimism and pull together!
