Storkow looks back: residents' meeting for 2025 and outlook for 2026

On January 20, 2026, the city of Storkow (Mark) invites you to the residents' meeting in the historic Storkow Castle. Mayor Cornelia Schulze-Ludwig will present a review of the events of 2025 as well as an outlook on the goals and projects for 2026. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. and will last approximately one hour. A highlight will be the presentation of current figures and facts from the areas of urban development, education, culture, business and digitalization. Participants have the opportunity to ask questions and share suggestions; questions can be sent in advance by email to the city administration secretariat, as storkow-mark.de reports.

The discussions and information are in the context of the ongoing projects and challenges in Storkow. At the last meeting on April 1, 2025, important topics such as the implementation of projects and investments were discussed. This includes, among other things, funding for road construction projects on Grasnickstrasse and Rechtsstrasse as well as new purchases for the fire department and the multi-generational playground in Groß Eichholz. Another large project is the planned new construction of the community cultural center in Kummersdorf, for which the city is hoping for Leader funding.

Collaboration and citizen participation

Urban development is a central issue for the citizens of Storkow. According to buergergesellschaft.de, it includes active planning and change processes that take social, economic and ecological issues into account. Citizen participation plays an essential role here to ensure that the voices of residents are heard and that they can actively participate in shaping their home. This is particularly important with regard to future construction projects and measures to improve the quality of life in disadvantaged districts.

At the last meeting it became clear that citizens had many questions about the current situation. Topics such as the working situation for refugees, property tax revenue and local residents' participation in the construction of new roads in the Vogelsiedlung were addressed. It was stated that information on resident participation will be made available in the near future and on-site appointments will be offered to clarify questions.

A look into the future

The projects and plans for urban development run through the entire agenda for the coming year. From the expansion of the after-school care center to current building plans – there is a lot to do. There are currently 33 development plans in progress and various concepts are in the works, including a noise action plan and a playground concept. A concept for the former Helios site in the old town is also being developed.

The city presents itself dynamically: In 2025, a total of 15,000 people visited Storkow Castle, while the tourist information office recorded 27,000 guests. Events such as the 9th Storkow Autumn Poetry and the upcoming performances by bands in collaboration with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg show that there is a lot to offer culturally in Storkow.

With the residents' meeting on January 20th, the next steps will be taken to jointly set the course for the future of the city and actively involve our fellow citizens in the development of their community.
