Today, September 8, 2025, the new high school in the Krampnitz district of Potsdam will be ceremoniously opened. This facility is the70th School of the City of Potsdamand represents an important step towards educational opportunities close to home. The 2025/26 school year will start here113 students in the 7th gradetogether withnine teacherstheir educational path.
The high school is already being temporarily housed in the premises of the Krampnitz elementary school. But the plans continue: Offmid-2027The school will move to a modern new building on the Jungfernsee campus, which is fully equipped.
Innovative learning spaces and long-term perspectives
In the future, the school campus will consist of two listed existing buildings and a new building that will provide space forup to 600 studentsoffers. Particularly noteworthy is the planning of aThree-field sports hall, a sports field, modern classrooms and a learning kitchen. The daycare center with 160 places will also open when the Krampnitz school section goes into operation.
As education representative Torsten Wiegel emphasized on the occasion of the opening, the school should also meet the growing needs of the residents in the north of Potsdam and thus make a direct contribution to theEducational equityafford. The school concept also places a clear focus onphysical and mental healththe student. This includesEnergizer breaks, a healthy menu, places to retreat and stress management courses.
Enlargement of the school field and community projects
The acting headmaster Jasmin Mallmann is optimistic about the coming years and announced at the opening the “Northern Spirit Week", which provides workshops and team building activities for students. This initiative aims to promote a strong school community.
Another exciting cooperation was with theO'Gorman High School in Sioux Falls, USAagreed. The aim is to strengthen the school community and create international exchange opportunities. This underlines the school's commitment to an innovative and future-oriented educational landscape.
Challenges and opportunities for school development
Addressing the challenges of education is a high priority in Potsdam. As part of an event –City Forum #819– recently topics like this have been discussedquantitative expansion and securing school places, innovative pedagogical concepts and social participation are intensively discussed.
