Digital Café in Zeuthen: Seniors conquer the digital world!

Something is happening in Zeuthen that affects our seniors! A digital café will be set up to make it easier for them to access digital technologies. The association “FelZ – For a Zeuthen worth living in” e.V. has taken on this important task and wants to teach older people how to use smartphones, laptops, etc. It is particularly pleasing that Brandenburg's Minister of Social Affairs, Britta Müller, presented a symbolic check for around 4,870 euros from lottery funds to support this project. Schulzendorfer.de reports that these funds will be used to purchase equipment such as laptops, screens, printers and projectors to equip the new learning rooms.

Mayor Philipp Martens emphasizes how important this initiative is for older citizens' participation in the digital world. Workshops and regular meetings in the digital café are planned, which will not only promote technological skills but also maintain social contacts. This could become a welcoming place for many older people to learn and grow in community. Special praise goes to town hall employee Susanne Braun, who played a key role in acquiring the funding. Their dedicated work has already paid off in 2024, when 1.2 million euros were invested in the expansion of the forest alley, supported by their efforts.

Exemplary initiative

The digital café in Zeuthen is intended to serve as a model for similar projects in the region. It is important that older people are not left behind in the digital age. Through targeted assistance, they can learn how to use useful applications on their devices and thus improve their quality of life.

Quality of life and collaborative learning

When it comes to quality of life for older people, independent living options are also a big issue. Many seniors choose to move into such facilities because it allows them to determine their own lifestyle without having to rely on help. These forms of housing not only offer apartments, but also many social activities and services, such as: E.g. freshly prepared meals, communal pools or fitness areas. Caring.com describes how important these social aspects are in a self-determined life.

So it turns out that the region is working on many fronts to enrich the lives of older people and offer them many opportunities to remain active and integrated. As Zeuthen moves forward with its digital café, such initiatives are crucial to recognizing and meeting the needs of our older citizens. There really is something going on there, and it's a good sign for the future!
