Traffic chaos in the Dahme-Spreewald: construction sites cause massive diversions!

There are currently significant traffic restrictions in Brandenburg that are keeping commuters and drivers on their toes. Current construction work is causing diversions and delays, which should be taken into account before you start your journey. On October 26, 2025, it was reported that disruptions were to be expected on several railway lines and roads.

The effects are particularly noticeable in rail transport. Due to construction work between Königs Wusterhausen and Cottbus, there will be diversions and even cancellations on the RE2 and RE7 lines until December 7th. Stops in Raddusch, Vetschau, Kunersdorf and Kolkwitz are completely eliminated. The RB24 regional train is struggling with cancellations between BER Airport and Wünsdorf-Waldstadt until December 13th; Here, S-Bahn and bus connections are recommended as alternatives. Similar restrictions also apply to the RB32, which is affected between the airport and Ludwigsfelde.

Road construction sites in the region

But it's not just the tracks that are affected. There are also critical construction sites on the roads in the Dahme-Spreewald that are putting a strain on traffic. The A117 is closed out of town in the direction of A113 until June 2026, specifically between the Treptow triangle and the Waldeck-West rest area. The L39/Kolberger Dorfstrasse is also completely closed in the first section between the Unity Square and the town exit of Prieros until summer 2026. There is also an interim closure on the L421 between Schlepzig and Krausnick until October 30th, due to material investigations on bridges.

If that's not enough for you, you also have to be prepared for restrictions in Erkner: Friedrichstrasse is completely closed there, which has an impact on the connection from the A10 to Eichwalde.

Traffic situation in Berlin

Anyone who commutes to Berlin currently has to contend with even more traffic jams and delays. The A100 bridge at the Funkturm motorway triangle is closed, and the Ringbahn bridge only has limited traffic - trucks have to take a detour here. This also applies to the S-Bahn, which can no longer pass under the Ringbahn bridge for safety reasons. The S46 line has also reduced its terminus to Berlin-Bundesplatz.

Another point of disruption is the A115, where a major construction site between Kreuz Zehlendorf and Spanish Allee forces traffic to only one lane until July 2026. For commuters who regularly use Berlin Central Station, it remains to be hoped that the construction work will be completed by April 22, 2026 - currently only four of eight tracks are passable.

Anyone who relies on the RB23 regional train must be patient: it currently only runs every two hours. The subway lines in Berlin are also affected by numerous changes, including the U6, which has been closed since November 2022. There are also changes to the timetable for the U2 and U3 subway lines until the end of the year.

Although the traffic situation is challenging, the railway can rely on its information offerings. You can easily view the disruption map, which provides real-time information on train connections, via bahn.de aktuell.
