Music Theater Toni - Colorful instead of gray: Eberswalde celebrates a brilliant premiere!
In Eberswalde, the musical theater piece “Toni – Colorful instead of Gray” had its ceremonial premiere in the Hufeisenfabrik on November 9, 2025. This impressive project pulls out all the stops with around 60 students involved, aged between 6 and 60. Under the direction of Jan Bartholdt, who is responsible for both the text and the direction, the piece is staged about the attitude to life of music and its transformative power. The attractive 360-degree stage and the elaborate sound and lighting design led to a remarkable performance that thrilled the audience.
What was particularly noteworthy was the intensive preparation period that took place at Trebnitz Castle during the autumn holidays. Here, those involved not only refined their performances, but also came together as a community. “Toni – Colorful instead of gray” marks the culmination of the 70th anniversary of the Eberswalde music school and was supported by the Barnim district and funding from the state of Brandenburg.
A diverse ensemble
The piece features large ensembles, including an orchestra, guitars, woodwinds, brass, a choir, dancers and drums, as well as a band. This diversity of talent makes the project all the more lively and shows that a lot can be achieved in the community. It is clear that the creative preparation and subsequent performances left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
The premiere was not only a cultural highlight in Eberswalde, but is also a sign of how music and theater can connect people of all ages. “Toni – Colorful instead of gray” thrived on the energy and enthusiasm of the participants, who brought a lot of passion and commitment to a successful result.
This premiere marks a fitting end to the Eberswalde Music School's anniversary year, and the great performances of the participants are already encouraging us to look forward to future projects. The mix of talent, passion and hard work was noticeable in every second and makes it clear: art and music are living elements of our society that need to be promoted.
