Spremberg and Cottbus: Joint projects for health and education!

A lot is happening in Spremberg at the moment: city representatives met with the Cottbus University Hospital to discuss possible collaboration. The focus is on improving health care, particularly in the areas of housing and education. The city highlights its modern infrastructure and wide range of housing options. A central player within this future concept is the Schwarze Pumpe industrial area, which is intended to play a key role in the planning. Mayor Christine Herntier emphasizes that it is important to promote cooperation as part of the structural change towards a high-tech economic region. Also Professor Dr. Eckhard Nagel sees this exchange as a decisive step for future cooperation.

Spremberg/Grodk is an efficient city with an intact infrastructure that is implementing a large number of industrial park projects to attract skilled workers and entrepreneurs. The city-owned hospital already provides reliable medical care, while various new projects are in the pipeline. This includes, among other things, the Schwarze Pumpe health country house, which is intended to significantly improve medical care in the largest district with an investment volume of around 3 million euros. The plans include the creation of a health terminal that provides telemedicine services and brings together various therapy providers to provide holistic solutions for the population. These developments fit perfectly into the concept, which also envisages the return of a general practitioner to ensure needs-based medical care.

Health Country House Black Pump

The health country house will be built at Clara-Zetkin-Straße 3 in Schwarze Pumpe and will consist of several areas: A “Point Of Care” with specially trained nurses will relieve the burden on family doctors and organize patient visits. A digital health terminal called “GesunT” will collect various health data and connect it to the TI infrastructure. Of course, a socially-indicated patient café will also be set up, which will serve as a meeting place for older patients. Those responsible are also planning to integrate a general practitioner and a dentist as well as a pharmacy to make it easier to access necessary medication.

The structural and technical planning of the health country house has been underway since July 2022. The use of the new center is planned for the third quarter of 2024. This is done in collaboration with partners such as Thiem-Research GmbH, the Spremberg Medical Care Center and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. There is also a regular working group on medical care in rural areas that monitors the progress of the project.

Work towards a common goal

Both sides, the city of Spremberg and the Cottbus University Hospital, are optimistic and have strived for continued networking and joint project work. The decisive factor for the success of the cooperation will be how quickly the respective construction projects progress. Spremberg is well on its way to shining not only as a city worth living in, but also as a health location in the region. It remains to be seen what prospects will arise from this collaboration and the newly developed projects. We can't wait to see where the journey will take us!
