Summer festival in Finsterwalde: Over 500 enthusiastic music fans!
The summer festival of the district music and art school “Gebrüder Graun” reached its climax on Friday, June 16th, on the Finsterwald market square. Over 500 visitors experienced a program lasting more than five hours that left nothing to be desired. Talents were presented here and thrilled the audience with bands, choirs and exciting solo contributions. Niederlausitz Current reports that the evening began with a fantastic performance by the band “Sleepy Creeps” at 5 p.m.
The musical diversity was overwhelming that evening. Highlights like the chillout sounds of “Found Together” and the creative rock of “Confused” created a good atmosphere. The ensemble “RISIKO” under the direction of singer Nils Wilhelm, who won second prize in the national “Jugend musiziert” competition, particularly attracted attention. The choral area was dominated by groups such as the vocal ensemble “The Vocal PickUps” and “Choregano”, led by experienced conductors.
Looking at the offspring
A real highlight of the event was the performance of Theresa Winzer, who not only touched the hearts of the audience with her solo contribution, but also commemorated her first prize in the national “Jugend musiziert” competition. Chris Poller, the head of the district music and art school, praised the achievements of the students and the commitment of the entire team that made this evening possible.
But the successes of the district music and art school are not just limited to the summer festival. The school achieved an impressive 34 first and five second prizes in the regional competition “Jugend musiziert”. The event, which took place in the south of Brandenburg, highlighted the high importance of arts education in the Elbe-Elster district. What was particularly impressive was that Pepe Müller received a special award for the best performance in the drums (solo) category. Weekly Courier reports that fifteen of the first-place musicians will also be able to compete in the Brandenburg state competition in Eberswalde next March.
The next stage: Sound City Festival
The commitment of the young talents does not go unnoticed. Bands like “Confused”, “Risk”, “Sleepy Creeps” and “Found Together” have qualified for the next big event with a total of twenty musicians. They will perform at the Sound City Festival of the Brandenburg Music and Art Schools in Ludwigsfelde in July. This series of events offers an excellent opportunity to introduce young musical talent to a broader public. Youth make music organizes around 170 regional competitions annually, which are also important for the growth of participants.
The creative atmosphere that was noticeable on this summer evening and the successes in the competition are a clear sign of the high level of musical education in the Elbe-Elster district. The district music and art school “Gebrüder Graun” can be proud of its young talent, who will continue to inspire the audience.
