Illegal techno party near Schipkau: Police sound the alarm at 2.30 a.m.!
On the night of June 15, 2025, an illegal techno party on a former open-cast mining site near Schipkau caused quite a stir. Around 100 revelers had gathered to spend the night with loud music and dancing. But the peace of the neighborhood was not left unaffected. The police received several noise complaints, which ultimately led to the evacuation around 2:30 a.m., as the Lausitzer Rundschau reports.
The event moved into the night hours, and when the first complaints about noise came in, the officers were immediately on the scene. Despite the late hour and the celebratory mood of those present, they largely cooperated with the emergency services. The evacuation lasted until the morning because some participants were drunk and dismantling the equipment took a little longer. The police were finally able to reopen the area at 10 a.m.
A recurring problem in the region
The phenomenon of illegal parties is not new, especially not in Lusatia. There are always wild celebrations that are not registered and often cause considerable noise nuisance for residents. As the South German newspaper reports, the remote forests of the Laußnitzer Heide attract numerous techno fans, especially in spring and summer. Weekend after weekend there are complaints about noise and disruption, although it is often difficult to pinpoint the exact location of the parties.
In the last few weeks in particular, there have been further incidents in the region when two illegal celebrations with a total of 200 participants had to be broken up by the police. Residents are often annoyed by the nighttime activities, which sometimes even result in criminal incidents. A 21-year-old woman's body was recently found with stab wounds nearby, further fueling concern among residents.
A look beyond the borders
Another example of this type of event is in Switzerland. There was also an illegal techno party in Winterthur that caused dozens of noise complaints. Over 200 people had gathered and police only had to intervene at 2 a.m. after the music was momentarily stopped. The celebrants reacted “extremely hostilely” on site and this event was also not approved, which led to the organizer being reported Daily Gazette reported.
In both cases it is clear that the secret meetings in the forests, whether in Germany or Switzerland, are causing significant problems. The residents want more control and criticism of the eviction of such parties. The authorities are called upon to find ways to accommodate the young party scene without burdening the neighbors. What will happen next? That remains to be seen.
