Carnival in Wahrenbrück: The Winkler fools are moving!
After an eventful time, the Winkler Jester carnival club moves from Winkel to Wahrenbrück and brings a breath of fresh air into the foolish season. Like the Lausitzer Rundschau reported, the name of the club remains unchanged, while the venue moves to the popular Ratskeller Wahrenbrück. The first training sessions are already taking place in the new premises of the Wahrenbrück local history association, which not only offer enough space for the rehearsals, but also provide storage facilities for the carnival material.
The season kicks off on November 11th at 10:30 a.m. in front of the “Erich Schindler” elementary school in Wahrenbrück. True to the motto “Las Vegas is calling, the jackpot is laughing, the WCc is celebrating all night long!” The starting signal for an exciting carnival season is given here.
Maps and events
Tickets will be sold from the start of the season. Advance sales begin on the above date and take place in the Dorn bakery, Kloppe butcher shop and the Bad Liebenwerda tourist information center. A highlight is on the program on January 31st: the traditional men's carnival. If you're looking forward to the next few months, you can also look forward to a number of events in February. An afternoon carnival is planned in the town hall on February 1st, followed by an evening carnival on February 7th. For the youngest there is a children's carnival on February 8th from 2 p.m.
Tradition and customs
Carnival, also known as the fifth season, is known for its exuberant atmosphere and diverse customs that are celebrated before the upcoming Lent. In many regions of Germany, such as the Rhineland or during the Swabian-Alemannic carnival, this time is celebrated with colorful parades, musical performances and costumes. As we all know, Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, and until then everyone celebrates as hard as they can. The festivals often end with special customs, such as the Nubbel burning in Cologne, where a straw doll symbolically atones for the sins of the foolish days, which is a custom from ancient times explained.
In Wahrenbrück you will experience an exciting carnival season that connects the local community and at the same time upholds old traditions. So it remains exciting to see how the carnival club's move will affect the celebrations - and what surprises the crazy time has in store this year!
