Last Saturday afternoon, Energie Cottbus caused a sensation in the second test match of the summer preparation. With an impressive 26:0 against SpVgg Finsterwalde, the Lausitzers showed an impressive performance that captivated the 2,262 spectators. This also represented a club record, which is being perfected almost every week if you look at the number of spectators of the past test matches. Niederlausitz Aktuell reports that coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz not only used the game for match practice, but also to gently integrate the new faces into the team.

Defender Tim Campulka opened the scoring in the 7th minute, which kept the crowd on their feet. In the first half, Cottbus demonstrated their superiority with a total of 11 goals, with Jannis Boziaris making heads turn with five goals. Can Moustfa also shone alongside him, scoring four times. The first goal of the second half was also a highlight: Tolcay Cigerci was able to demonstrate his goal-scoring ability and scored several goals - including three from penalties.

Outlook and further test games

Energie Cottbus is pursuing a clear goal with this series of test games: to promote fitness, joy of playing and team cohesion in order to get the best start into the new season. The next duel will take place on Sunday against Blau-Weiß Wittichenau, and that's exactly where we need to confirm the performance shown in Finsterwalde. The next dates have also been fixed, with games scheduled for July 4th, July 5th, July 8th, July 9th, July 18th and July 19th.

It remains exciting to see whether Cottbus can build on their impressive performance in the coming matches. At a time when attendance figures are high in all leagues, the team can be happy about the support of their fans, which not only creates atmosphere, but also the necessary momentum in the coming weeks. According to data from Statista, viewer numbers in the Bundesliga have increased continuously in recent years, reflecting the return to normality after the pandemic.
