Schöneiche local festival: Attention commuters! Large-scale closures are imminent!

A very special festival will be celebrated in Schöneiche near Berlin in just a few days. On the occasion of the community's 650th anniversary, the local festival will take place from June 20th to 22nd, 2025. This is an event that residents and visitors definitely shouldn't miss.

But before the celebrations begin, there will be a major lockdown in the community from June 19 to 22. On this occasion, the streets between Dorfaue 6 and 45 will be completely closed. This means that residents and commuters are well advised to use alternative routes. A bypass via Hohes Feld, Petershagener Straße and Tasdorfer Straße is recommended, especially since bus lines 161 and 420 will not stop during the festival from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. due to the closures at the Dorfaue, Mietkestraße and Walter-Dehmel Straße stops, as the MOZ reports.

The program of the local festival

The festival area will be built in the village meadow and promises numerous attractions. The program includes exciting carousels, a variety of stands and the traditional Eichkaterlauf - a sporting challenge for which you should register in advance. In addition, historical bread baking is offered in the bakery at the Heimathaus, which will delight young and old alike. A highlight will take place on Saturday, June 21st: the big parade.

The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. on Brandenburgische Straße and leads to the village church, past various departments and clubs that provide information about themselves there. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a large restricted area will be set up for the parade to ensure the safety of all participants. The road will be closed from 10am and will remain closed until midnight on June 22nd. The parking spaces in the town center, such as at EDEKA and Jysk, will then no longer be accessible.

Cultural highlights and accessibility

Another cultural event will take place on June 22nd: a big choir meeting where many different choirs will be on stage. The Strausberg Mixed Choir starts at 11:10 a.m., followed by other choirs from the area, which enrich the day with live singing. The crowning conclusion is a grand finale on the main stage in the afternoon.

Anyone traveling by bike is making a good choice. A large number of parking spaces are available in the stork school yard. The Schöneicher-Rüdersdorfer tram is also active and is offering additional special trips on June 21st to bring visitors safely to their destination.

Anyone interested has the opportunity to visit a flea market on Sunday, June 22nd. Some stands are still available and those interested can contact by email 650jahre@schoeneiche.de Register to secure a spot. This makes the local festival a colorful mix of culture, history and community.

In summary: If you want to be in Schöneiche for the festive season, you should find out about the traffic disruptions and secure a place in the festive traffic jam in good time. There is a lot to discover, so see you at the Heimatfest!
