And the region also has its charm in winter: then the Straussee and the surrounding area are a popular destination for long hikes.

A technical monument and attraction

A very special highlight in Strausberg is the electrically operated one Passenger cable ferry, which has been in operation since 1894. It connects the urban area with the forest area “Beyond the Lake” and is considered not only a technical monument, but also a tourist attraction. The ferry runs all year round under line number 39 and is also an ideal starting point for hikes through the surrounding forest. If you like, you can fortify yourself with drinks and a small snack on board - even in winter, as long as the shipping channel remains ice-free.

Strausberg not only has impressive nature to offer, but also a charming old town. Here, visitors can expect a picture of cobblestone streets, colorful houses in the fishing district and inviting cafés. The sights include the local history museum and the St. Mary's Church, which dates back to the 13th century and is one of the oldest stone churches in Brandenburg.
