The situation on the labor market in the Uckermark is currently mixed. According to a report by Northern Courier Are the offers of jobs subject to social security contributions stable or showing a slight increase. This refers to the latest data published in December 2024. There are currently 93,529 employees subject to social security contributions in the region - a high since 1999, while the low in 2005 was 76,034 employees.

Compared to May, there are 60 fewer unemployed people, but year-on-year there are 268 more, raising the rate to 11.3%.
The average unemployment rate in the Eberswalde agency district is 7.6%, which is above the Brandenburg state average of 6.3%. Unemployment is rising for the third year in a row and forecasts point to a further increase in the coming months before a revival could occur after the holiday period in September.

The situation among young people is particularly worrying: 1,202 young adults under the age of 25 are currently unemployed, an increase of 86 compared to last year. Of these, 429 receive unemployment benefit and 773 receive citizen benefit. The unemployment rate among young people is 8.7%.
