Christmas magic in Prenzlau: student choirs inspire in concert!
On December 23, 2025, the Christa-und-Peter-Scherpf-Gymnasium in Prenzlau shone in the festive splendor of the Christmas concert, which once again lived up to its excellent reputation. For more than two hours, various choir formations and soloists delighted the audience with powerful vocal performances. Director Ludger Melters particularly welcomed the many guests, including district administrator Karina Dörk and the designated mayor Marek Wöller-Beetz. The evening was moderated by the talented twelfth grader Jule Siepert.
What program awaited the visitors? The seventh grade youth choir, led by Uli Stornowski, performed cheerful classics such as “We wish you a merry Christmas”, “Let it snow” and “Winter wonderland”. A festive highlight was also the performance of Charlena Quass on the piano, who performed the theme music from the popular film “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella”.
Colorful variety of performances
The music teacher Petra Winter presented traditional songs such as “Let us be happy and cheerful” and “Sunny light of Bethlehem” together with class 7.2. In addition, the ensemble from the district music school showed their skills with a combination of flute, cello and piano. The committed choir from the music courses in grades 10 to 12, under the direction of Carsten Schlottke, thrilled people with the GDR classic “We have a Christmas tree”.
A special highlight was the solo by Jule Siepert, who sang “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen with great emotionality, accompanied by Konstantin Witt on the piano and an impressive video projection. The Zumba kids also appeared in their red and white outfits and showed joy in movement in well-thought-out choreographies.
The youth choir from grades 7 to 10 also took part and presented several songs, including the popular number “Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer,” supported by rapper Nehemia Saunders. The crowning conclusion of the evening was the teachers' choir “Die Pauker”, which took to the stage under the direction of Uli Stornowski. Founded by Jürgen Bischof, this choir has enriched the cultural life of the Scherpf-Gymnasium for many years and promotes community and joy in music.
Thanks and praise for everyone involved
District Administrator Karina Dörk and Marek Wöller-Beetz were impressed by the achievements of everyone involved and the dedicated work of the music teachers. They sent a heartfelt thank you to the numerous helpers who made an important contribution both in front of and behind the scenes to make this wonderful concert possible.
