Bathing season in Templin at risk: lifeguards urgently needed!
There is a lot of rumbling in Templin on the city lake - or rather, there is no rumbling! The reason for this is the lack of young lifeguards, which is endangering the opening of the popular city pool. As the Northern Courier reports, this year's bathing season is in the balance, and the Stephanus Foundation, which runs the pool in cooperation with the city of Templin, is calling on the public to support it.
Lifeguards are currently urgently needed to ensure the safety of bathers. “If we don’t find committed people with a valid silver or gold lifeguard badge and first aid training, the pool will remain closed this summer,” said the foundation. A call that calls on citizens to actively help and spread the message.
Job offers and requirements
The Stephanus Foundation has advertised a full-time position as a lifeguard from July to August for the 2025 swimming season. Working hours are from Wednesday to Sunday, between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The tasks include not only supervising the swimming pool operations, but also ensuring safety and rapid intervention in an emergency. Applicants should have a silver lifeguard badge, a current first aid course and, above all, a high level of responsibility. Jobsonline clarifies: The ability to act calmly in stressful situations is also required.
“The area surrounding the city pool is an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature,” said those responsible. The area is designed close to nature and invites you to spend a stay where both children and adults can feel at home.
The meaning of swimming badges
The importance of lifeguards also brings the DLRG which points out that swimming badges such as those in silver and gold demonstrate not only the ability to handle water, but also the ability to guide others safely through dangerous situations. This is particularly important because the early swimmer badge (seahorse) alone is not sufficient for independent supervision of swimmers. This requirement is crucial for safety in the city pool.
The bénévoles positions offered in Templin at the Stephanus Foundation are not just a job, but also an opportunity to be part of a community that upholds values such as open cooperation and Christian traditions. Team days and excursions round off the offering and invite you to make contacts beyond your everyday work routine.
For all those who are ready to take on responsibility and save the bathing season in Templin, upcoming job interviews are possible in the foundation's usual premises. Anyone interested can contact us directly bewerbung@stephanus.org or call Julia Majuntke on (030) 96 24 99 72 to find out more.
