Mozart's The Royal Shepherd celebrates brilliant return in Rheinsberg!

In Rheinsberg there is reason to be happy: The opera "The Royal Shepherd" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart returns! From July 18 to 29, 2025, music lovers have the opportunity to experience this magical staging in the castle theater. Directed by André Bücker, the director of the State Theater Augsburg, and conducted by Florian Ludwig, the piece will enchant the audience with musical virtuosity and a touch of scenic joke. The motto of this year's festival, "Happy, who is forgetting", addresses the idyllic-romantic shepherd's life and questions the illusion of a healed world, which makes the performance a special experience.

The staging brings an interesting aesthetics to the stage that fluctuates between the Japanese anime culture and baroque oversubscription. At the center of the action is the young shepherd Aminta, the problem of duty and personal freedom. As one of royal blood, Aminta has to decide his heart between love for his beloved Elisa and the expectations of society, including an ascent of the throne and his engagement with the tyranny daughter Tamiri. This complex love story, which also reflects political nuances, develops in a score full of virtuoso arias that impressively reflect the emotional and moral conflict.

an ensemble of young talents

The ensemble, which is on stage at this performance, is particularly noteworthy. All soloists are award winners of the 33rd International Singing Competition of the Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinsberg and bring a breath of fresh air and promising talent. The main areas are double -occupied, so that the audience have the choice between different interpretations. Among other things, are expected:

  • Aminta: Daniela Zib and Isabel Weller
  • Elisa: Verena Seyboldt and Marianna Herzig
  • Tamiri: Itto Bakir and Alexandra Heath
  • Alessandro: Cheng Li and Ferdinand Dehner
  • Agenore: Miltiadis Tzimourtos and Gregor Reinhold

With this selection of talented artists, the performance will surely become a highlight of the festival calendar. The audience can look forward to exciting performances and emotionally stirring moments.
