Mozart's The Royal Shepherd” celebrates a brilliant return in Rheinsberg!
There is reason to be happy in Rheinsberg: The opera “The Royal Shepherd” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is returning! From July 18th to 29th, 2025, music lovers have the opportunity to experience this magical production in the castle theater. Directed by André Bücker, the artistic director of the Augsburg State Theater, and conducted by Florian Ludwig, the piece will enchant the audience with musical virtuosity and a touch of scenic wit. The motto of this year's festival, "Happy is he who forgets", focuses on the idyllic, romantic shepherd's life and questions the illusion of an ideal world, which makes the performance a special experience.
The production brings an interesting aesthetic to the stage that fluctuates between Japanese anime culture and baroque exaggeration. At the center of the plot is the young shepherd Aminta, who is faced with the problems of duty and personal freedom. As one of royal blood, Aminta must choose his heart between love for his lover Elisa and society's expectations, including an ascension to the throne and his engagement to the tyrant's daughter Tamiri. This complex love story, which also reflects political nuances, unfolds in a score full of virtuoso arias that impressively reflect the emotional and moral conflict.
An ensemble of young talents
Particularly noteworthy is the ensemble that is on stage for this performance. All soloists are prizewinners of the 33rd International Singing Competition of the Schloss Rheinsberg Chamber Opera and bring a breath of fresh air and promising talent. The main roles are double cast, so that the audience can choose between different interpretations. Expected, among other things:
- Aminta: Daniela Zib und Isabel Weller
- Elisa: Verena Seyboldt und Marianna Herzig
- Tamiri: Itto Bakir und Alexandra Heath
- Alessandro: Cheng Li und Ferdinand Dehner
- Agenore: Miltiadis Tzimourtos und Gregor Reinhold
With this selection of talented artists, the performance is sure to be a highlight of the festival calendar. The audience can look forward to exciting performances and emotionally stirring moments.
