Second exchange box in Neuruppin: simply exchange school supplies!

There is reason to be happy in Neuruppin: On November 14, 2025, the second exchange box of the “exchange yourself smart” campaign was set up in the entrance area of the Kunterbunt daycare center. This initiative aims to actively support children and parents in the transition from daycare to school. The first box in the crumb box was very popular and contributed significantly to the installation of the new exchange box. Here, children and parents can hand in or take away unused school consumables - a great opportunity to use materials sustainably and in a resource-saving manner.

But the initiative doesn't stop there. A third exchange box in the entrance area of the youth art school (Altes Gymnasium) will soon expand the offering. This is currently being designed by the creative minds of the art course, which makes the whole thing even more personal. In this way, the children can not only pass on materials, but also actively participate in a beautiful, artistic concept.

A place for creativity and sustainability

Meanwhile, this year's lantern craft began in KiKu Eichenallee, where the children learned in a playful way how important sustainability is. The aim of this event is to stimulate little ones' interest in the upcoming Autumn and Lantern Festival. The children create lanterns from materials they find at home - a great example of how waste can be turned into creative works of art. For example, underwater figures were created from detergent and fabric softener bottles, and milk cartons also end up as cute owls.

A special lantern was created from a stick, a PET bottle and LED lights - practical, safe and sustainable at the same time. Here too, the desire to reuse materials sensibly is evident. Further craft dates are already being planned to bring the topic of sustainability to the fore and make the autumn festival a real highlight.

Education for everyone

In the context of such initiatives, it is noteworthy that in 2015 the United Nations agreed on key sustainable development goals to achieve significant progress by 2030. From eradicating poverty to educating all children to protecting the environment, commitment to a sustainable future is vital. UNICEF is committed to ensuring that disadvantaged children in particular are not left behind and calls on teachers to integrate these topics into lessons. The “The World’s Largest Lesson” project was created to raise awareness of sustainable development among students around the world.

These initiatives, whether in the form of exchange boxes or craft lessons, are a shining example of how important education and creativity are in today's world. They promote awareness of sustainability and show that it often only takes small impulses to achieve big things.
