Babelsberg celebrates record victory: 7:0! Velten and Brieselang shine!

There was a lot going on in local football on the last match day, with the matches in Brandenburg in particular providing exciting moments. SC Eintracht Miersdorf/Zeuthen and BSG Stahl Brandenburg drew 2-2 in a thrilling match. Mia-Sophie Neumann put the guests from Brandenburg in front in the 29th minute, but the joy didn't last long: Katharina Schmidt equalized just a minute later. Shortly before the half-time whistle, it was Nathalie Säger who gave Stahl Brandenburg another lead with her goal in the 45th minute. But right after the restart, Nathalie Bretschneider came on for Miersdorf/Zeuthen and restored the score to 2-2. Both teams still had a chance to win, but the ball didn't want to go into the net.

Meanwhile, the teams in the top third of the table left nothing to be desired. FSV Babelsberg 74 celebrated a brilliant 7-0 win against FC Energie Cottbus. Ruodi Schulze laid the foundation for this success with the first goal in the 13th minute. The outstanding Denise Simon put together a hat trick (18th, 30th, 38th) and Luise Karaszewski increased the score to 5-0 in the 42nd minute. Two more goals from Samantha Spurtaz (62nd, 89th) rounded off the impressive performance.

Goal threat at the highest level

In the meeting at the top of the league, SC Oberhavel Velten also had a great time. With a remarkable 9-0 win against the Ludwigsfelde/RSV Eintracht syndicate, they showed that they can not only play, but also dominate. Miriam Karras was unstoppable and scored four goals (9th, 47th, 75th, 83rd + 1). She received support from Emma Marlene Krüger (13th) and Antonia Schwietz (21st), who also scored. Jenna Apollonia Drost put the icing on the cake with a goal in the 89th minute.

SV Grün-Weiß Brieselang also demonstrated its goal-scoring ability and clearly defeated SG Blau-Weiß Beelitz 8-1. Alicia Thiemer gave Brieselang the lead in the 32nd minute before Kimberly Stegermaier and Jenny Trommer made it 3-0 before the break. After the break there was an exhibition by the Brieslanger strikers, who scored five more goals, while Beelitz was only able to contribute the consolation goal (77th Lena Ilk).

Women's football on the rise

Women's football has gained a lot of traction in Germany, which is reflected not only in the results of the local leagues, but also in the enormous popularity of the sport. Over 75% of female respondents in Germany are very interested in football, and the numbers speak for themselves: There are currently around 100,000 active players and more than 9,700 registered female teams at the DFB, which shows a steady increase in girls' and women's football. The rewarding achievements of the German senior national team, which has won two World Cups and eight European Championships, cannot be ignored as they serve as role models for young talent. The recent UEFA Women's EURO 2025 in Switzerland, where England successfully defended and challenged Spain in the final, has also given a huge boost to interest.

Developments in women's football are clearly on the rise and it will be exciting to see how the two regional opponents fare. For the fans it's time to stay tuned and cheer!
