Liedtke leads Blau-Weiss Hohen Neuendorf back into women's football!

SV Blau-Weiss Hohen Neuendorf is at a turning point under the direction of coach Christian Liedtke. Now that the club's women's team has found its way back to the big football stage after two years in the lower leagues, we can look forward to the challenges ahead in the Northeast Regional League. Christian Liedtke, in office since autumn 2022, managed to lead the team to the title in the Berlin League and secured a return to the national league in the promotion games. MAZ reports that he is now considered the favorite for the award for coach of the 2024/25 season.

“I enjoyed the success in silence,” said Liedtke, who is already in the preparation phase for the new season. A bitter setback was the departure of defense chief Miya Hähnel, who is going to the USA to study. This could be a serious loss for the team, but Liedtke is relying on “team unity” to be able to assert itself in the regional league. The team wintered in second place in the Berlin League with an impressive 6-0 win against Hansa 07 and is ready to face the challenges of the new league.

The path up to here

The rise of Hohen Neuendorf shows how important a stable base is. Before his involvement here, Liedtke worked at Union Berlin for six years, where he was the last amateur coach before the club decided to professionalize. “It is essential not to forget popular sport and the grassroots work of the clubs,” he emphasizes. The club has set itself the goal of training talent itself and promoting coaching training in order to offer younger players training at a high level.

However, the search for reinforcements in Berlin is proving difficult. Many players prefer to play at larger clubs, even though the prospect of playing time there is often limited. Instead, Liedtke sees great potential in the north of Brandenburg, especially in the Oberhavel, Barnim and Havelland regions.

The look into the future

With concrete plans, Liedtke would also like to expand cooperation with schools and daycare centers in order to sustainably consolidate the women's football location. For the coming season in the regional league, the team has set itself the goal of staying in the league. Given the constantly growing number of women's teams in Germany, which currently numbers over 4,090, the demands on coaches are also increasing in order to be able to keep up in such a dynamic environment. Here it shows that women's football is growing rapidly in Germany.

The volleyball league could offer even more exciting duels in the near future if the talent develops optimally. The commitment of coaches like Christian Liedtke is crucial for this, because without a strong base, amateur women's football will have a hard time maintaining the recognition and popularity it has gained in the coming years.
