100 years of tennis history: Hohen Neuendorf is celebrating its anniversary!
Next year, the celebrations at the Blau-Weiß Hohen Neuendorf tennis club will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary. Preparations are already in full swing, as a lot has happened since it was founded in Hohen Neuendorf in 1926. The club, which is idyllically located in a nature reserve near the northern Berlin city limits, uses this opportunity to look back on an eventful history and at the same time take a look into the future. Mayor Steffen Apelt had the honor of receiving an updated and newly published chronicle of the association. The chronicle written by Elke Ahrens is not only intended to delight old members, but also to introduce new guests and interested parties to the club, says Marko Vogler, chairman of the board <[a href="https://hohen-neuendorf.de/de/stadt-leben/aktuelles/100-jahre-tennisgeschichte">Hohen Neuendorf.
If you look at the beginnings of tennis in Germany, you can see that it began around 1880 and that the German Tennis Federation (DTB) has played a crucial role in its development since 1902. The first tennis clubs were founded in Bad Homburg and Baden-Baden, and the “International German Championships” were founded in Hamburg in 1892. The history of tennis in Germany is just as rich as that of the club in Hohen Neuendorf, which with its four clay courts and a modern clubhouse has been a fixture in the region for decades<[a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Tennisgeschichte">Wikipedia.
A club with tradition
The TC Blau-Weiß Hohen Neuendorf was founded with the aim of realizing sporting ambitions and at the same time creating a social meeting place. Since its founding, the club has not only promoted tennis in the region, but also created a lively club life. Whether it's the Pentecost tournament, the Christmas party or the New Year's Eve festival - the variety of events speaks for the commitment of the members, who are actively involved in club life<[a href="https://tennis-hohen-neuendorf.de/vereinsleben">Tennis Hohen Neuendorf.
The new chronicle will contain 500 copies and will be available from November 26, 2025 in the Behm bookstore for 12 euros. It will include many images and texts about the history of the club, which will both awaken memories and appeal to new interested parties. Mayor Apelt was optimistic and spoke of his interest in the next 100 years of the association, which is characterized by its long tradition and the continuous commitment of its members.
A look into the future
With the timeline and festivities planned, the club is well placed to welcome the next generation of tennis enthusiasts. The modernized sand courts and the inviting clubhouse not only provide the ideal conditions for sporting activities, but also a place for social gatherings that attract all age groups. No matter whether families, individuals or team players – the TC Blau-Weiß Hohen Neuendorf remains a place for meeting people and playing sports together.
The history of tennis in Germany, which is characterized by big names like Steffi Graf and Boris Becker, will continue to shine in Hohen Neuendorf, where the joy of the game and community are the focus. The coming events promise not only to celebrate the club's history, but also to ignite the passion for tennis that has flourished in Hohen Neuendorf for a century.
