Festive Christmas services in Storkow: A celebration for everyone!
There are already big celebrations in Storkow and the surrounding area in the run-up to Christmas. On Christmas Eve, December 24th, there are again numerous church services on the program, organized by the Storkower Land Protestant parish. In Storkow, the church opens its doors to several festive events. Christmas Vespers begins at 4 p.m. with an impressive nativity play that delights young and old alike. For those who prefer it a little later, there will be a service with the Kantorei choir at 6 p.m. If you need even more contemplative time, you can come to the service to “come down” at 10 p.m., a perfect opportunity to end the contemplative hours in peace. This is reported by the website of the Storkower Land parish.
The festival is also celebrated widely in the surrounding towns. There will be a service in Alt Stahnsdorf at 4 p.m. with Lektor Kockejai and the “Storkower Songbirds”. At the same time, Görsdorf is also enjoying a service with Pastor Parr and a mini nativity play that has been specially prepared for the youngest children. In GroßSchauen, the nativity play will be designed by predicant Dorothea Götze, while in Selchow at 5 p.m. a church service with a nativity film and angel choir will be performed.
A celebration for all generations
But Christmas is not only a time for festive church services, but also an opportunity to strengthen community. The Christmas services offer adults and children a platform for encounters. More and more churches are attaching importance to the little ones taking an active part in the celebrations and not just feeling like passive listeners. For example, children can participate in various church services, sing and play. These celebrations that connect generations promote shared experiences and learning, which relaxes many parents. Such an approach is also in the source kinder.feg.de impressively described.
The meaning of Christmas is underlined by the connection between Jesus' birth and current issues. Werner Hofmann designed a celebration entitled “Announce to all in distress,” which celebrates the humanity of God and emphasizes the equality of all people before the child Jesus. Collections for affected people can be collected during church services, which adds additional meaning to the celebration. In many communities there are also attractive nativity plays that introduce children and adults to the Christmas story in a playful way.
Highlights and conclusion
On Boxing Day, December 26th, there is another service with choir singers on the program at 10 a.m., which will continue the festive atmosphere. The community will once again end the year together at the Old Year's Eve on December 31st, which begins at 6 p.m. and is organized by Pastor Parr and the young community. For all music lovers there is also a concert entitled “Joy of Beautiful Sparks of the Gods” at 4 p.m. in the Friedersdorf church.
