The challenges of mobile slaughter
In Brandenburg, a maximum of six animals per day can be slaughtered with such a mobile vehicle. But there are some hurdles: there must be a nearby slaughter site and it is mandatory that a veterinarian is present at every slaughter. This staff shortage in the veterinary offices increases costs for farmers and makes it difficult for them to accept the offer.
The Conference of Agriculture Ministers has already taken steps to promote mobile slaughter.
