Castle Island Run in Lübben: 900 runners brave the heat!

The Schlossinsellauf in Lübben proved to be a real highlight for the region last weekend. Over 900 participants gathered to give their best at different distances. There were around 500 children and young people among the runners, while around 400 adults were on their feet. Particularly noteworthy was the participation of 150 brave athletes who completed the half marathon route. See the impressive results and pictures on the website of the Evangelical School Association Lübben e. V., which was documented throughout the day, as reported by Niederlausitz Aktuell.

The event started ceremoniously with a service held by the Lübben Evangelical Church Community, which introduced the sporting day with a spiritual moment. However, the high temperature that day did not stop the participants from giving their best. Fortunately, there were enough places to provide shade and a supply of drinks so that no one had to suffer from the heat. In addition, the percussion group Kitchen Drum from Berlin provided a rousing musical background and helped the athletes and spectators to create a great atmosphere.

A celebration for the whole family

The Castle Island Run is not only a sporting challenge, but also a celebration for the whole family. In addition to the races, numerous creative stands were set up by sponsors and sports clubs, which offered many interesting insights and offers in addition to the competitions. This speaks for the good organization and the popular programs that thrilled the visitors.

Not to be forgotten are the children who got their money's worth at this event. While many of them were active in the competitions, a total of around 3,000 running events are offered for children in Germany. The children's races vary depending on age, with the smallest participants - the bambinis - usually running less than 1,000 meters. Distances of two to three kilometers are common for students and young people. Many children also took part in the Schlossinsellauf with enthusiasm and contributed to the positive atmosphere, as HD Sports informs.

Outlook for the next event

The next Schlossinsellauf will take place on June 21, 2026. The organizers are already looking forward to numerous repeat participants as well as new faces joining in the running fun. As a real highlight, participants can look forward to a new finisher's shirt, which is made of breathable functional material and will be presented on the day of the event together with the start number. For adults, the entry fee is EUR 22.00, while children can choose a shirt for EUR 20.00, as noted on the Schlossinsellauf website [https://schlossinsellauf.de/].

As with any large event, the commitment of the organizers and the support of sponsors are crucial to success. The Schlossinsellauf is an example of community, sport and joy and remains a fixed date in the sporting calendar of Lübben and the surrounding area.
