In the quiet community of Zeuthen, which is located in the Dahme-Spreewald district, an elderly couple experienced an unexpected and disturbing situation last weekend. On the night of Saturday to Sunday, more precisely on October 26th, the two of them were surprised at around 1 a.m. by four burglars who forced their way into their home. The couple, who live on Schillerstrasse, were only able to preserve the pristine nature of their home through pure chance. When they encountered the intruders, they immediately fled, leaving the residents in a state of shock. However, they remained physically unharmed, which is not a given in such cases
An ambulance was called to provide medical care to the two. Fortunately, they were able to stay in their own home after an outpatient examination. “It is shocking that we have to hear about such incidents in our neighborhood,” said one concerned neighbor. The police are currently investigating what exactly was stolen and the extent of the damage.
Wave of burglaries in the region
Police spokesman Maik Kettlitz draws attention to the current wave of burglaries, which has not been overlooked around Königs Wusterhausen since the beginning of October. A total of 19 break-ins and thefts have been recorded in the region so far. Kettlitz warns that there is an increased risk of burglary, especially during the dark season, especially between the end of the day and dinner. He recommends that citizens call 110 if they see anything suspicious and not put themselves in danger. Failure to catch burglars could easily lead to a dangerous situation.
To counteract the risk of a break-in, the police advise taking various precautionary measures: Installing motion detectors and burglary-resistant doors and windows can be crucial. It is also advisable to have vigilant neighbors who look out for each other. The overview of the burglary statistics shows that single-family homes and construction sites in particular are often spied on and targeted.
