Fire station in Märkischer Heide burned down – millions in damage!
A dramatic event shook the community of Märkische Heide in the Dahme-Spreewald district on Monday evening. There was a devastating fire in the fire station in Dürrenhofe. The fire broke out around 6:40 p.m. and the alarm was immediately raised at the Lausitz control center. In an impressive operation, 15 fire engines as well as an emergency doctor and an ambulance arrived to prevent anything worse from happening.
The fire department was finally able to put out the fire around 9:15 p.m., but the consequences are devastating. In the equipment house there was a fire truck and a trailer with firefighting equipment, both of which were completely destroyed by the flames. Luckily there were no injuries to report. Nevertheless, the total damage to vehicles and equipment amounts to a high six-figure amount. Due to the massive damage, the tool shed is also at risk of collapsing and must be secured immediately. The criminal police have already started an investigation into the cause of the fire, but so far the reasons for the fire breaking out are unclear. Solidarity among the fire departments
One could say that there is currently a very unfortunate coincidence in Simmerberg, in the Lindau district, where another fire broke out in the local fire station early on Monday morning. At around 4:30 a.m., a tank fire engine (built in 1997) was discovered in the vehicle hall and was completely on fire. Numerous other fire departments were also on duty here, but the rescuers were unable to save the vehicle. Further damage affected a truck supply vehicle as well as parts of the emergency clothing and hall gates. Fortunately, there were no injuries here either. Feuerwehrmagazin reports that...
The consequences are serious: the Simmerberg fire department is left without a vehicle ready for use. Neighboring fire departments are already on hand to provide support, and a free vehicle hall in Ellhofen is being used as an interim solution. Here too, the amount of damage still needs to be precisely quantified; However, initial estimates suggest a loss of between one million euros and more. The criminal police in particular have started investigating, with initial indications pointing to a technical defect.
Ensure operational readiness
In order to restore the operational capacity of the Simmerberg fire department as quickly as possible, the market town of Weiler-Simmerberg opened a donation account with the Sparkasse Schwaben-Bodensee. The solidarity in the region is also clearly evident here, because the support of the population is needed within a short period of time in order to be able to continue to maintain the fire service.
In both cases, the fire departments affected face major challenges that can only be overcome together and with the help of the public. Let's stay tuned to see what findings the investigations will bring and how operational readiness can be quickly restored in both communities. After all, the fire department is an indispensable part of our community!
