Hussite Festival in Bernau: Festive start with a big concert and torches!

The Bernau Hussite Festival, the festive homage to the Hussite history of the city, was opened on June 13, 2025 with an exciting concert by the Federal Police Orchestra. The orchestra played under the conductor of Gerd Herklotz at an impressive sunset, while happy people with wine and cocktails stayed on the square at the Steintor. Thousands of visitors flocked to the medieval festival meadow in the city park and a hype.

The second opening act took place on the Bernau marketplace and offered a varied program with appearances by soloists such as Nadine Oswald and Benedikt. Not to forget the highlights such as the Star Wars Medley and the titles from "Beyond Africa" ​​and "Skyfall". A special highlight was the tubist Mateo Dudek, who with his beatboxing in "Fnugg Blue" has the audience. The orchestra was also supported by choirs from the Paulus-Praetorius-Gymnasium and Barnim-Gymnasium.

An impressive torch parade rounded off the opening evening. From 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the torchbors pulled through the city center, starting on Berliner Strasse and over the crossing back to Steintorplatz. A sensational fireworks crowned the evening and released the visitors into a happy night.

The big parade, which begins on Saturday, June 14th, at 11 a.m., will include around 1,600 players and present city history in around 60 pictures. Among the new pictures are the topics "1861 - the high art of silk weaving" and "1990 - the foundation of the Astronomical Center e.V.". Admission prices for the event are cheap: on Friday the price is 4 EUR, and 8 EUR on Saturday and Sunday, while a family card is available for EUR 20. Visitors only pay 5 EUR for the Sunday game. The festival runs on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to midnight and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Discounted cards are available for children, students, students, social passport owners and others, while children up to 6 years and accompanying persons from seriously damaged people enjoy free admission.

The Stadtwerke Bernau offer a water bar with free drinking water, and it is recommended to use public transport because parking in the city center is limited.
