Wave of explosions in Spremberg: unknown people destroy mailboxes!
What's happening in Spremberg? Last weekend, the city center once again became the scene of criminal activity when several mailboxes were damaged or even completely destroyed through the use of pyrotechnics. According to the latest reports from Niederlausitz Current, residents and passers-by have to deal with an unpleasant sight, and the police have not yet provided any precise information about the locations affected or the property damage caused.
The police have not yet been able to identify any suspects and have commissioned forensic science to collect evidence and carry out further investigations. In fact, it is also being examined whether there may be connections to other incidents from the last week. On December 2nd, a mailbox in an apartment building on Waldstrasse was blown up, and the police were able to secure the remains of a firecracker, which led to the opening of criminal proceedings for damage to property, reported Radio Cottbus.
Investigations are in full swing
But the situation is not only getting worse in the city center. In the current investigation into the incident, police are also investigating possible connections to other explosions that have recently taken place in the region. The streets “Am alten Sportplatz” in Terpe and the ring road in Groß Luja, where pyrotechnic objects were also used, were also affected. The investigators are grateful for information from the public in order to finally stop this series of devastation.
At the same time, there were further police reports from Spree-Neiße that illustrate the current trend of vandalism in the region. Several young people were caught tampering with a speed camera and then fled on bicycles towards the Tauer. These actions resulted in an investigation into property damage after the speed camera in question was daubed with the words “ACAB”.
Several incidents shocked residents
However, crime does not sleep. The police arrived in Preilack because of a witness who had observed suspicious activity on a speed camera. In Forst/L. Several men tried to force entry into a restaurant, only to eventually realize that they had simply forgotten their jackets, which resulted in them banging on the window - which cracked the window and led to another investigation.
In order to improve the security situation in Spremberg, the officers have already been checking drunk drivers this week. In Cottbus/SPN they arrested six drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol and banned them from continuing to drive.
Recent incidents in the region can only be described as worrying. The citizens of Spremberg are called upon to be vigilant and do everything in their power to prevent such acts. The more eyes there are out there, the easier it is for the police to track down these criminals.
