City festival in Calau: A day full of enjoyment, music and free beer!
On Saturday, August 14, 2025, the people of Calau will once again enjoy a colorful city festival that leaves little to be desired. The coffee table for the senior citizens starts at 10:30 a.m. in the city center, where the sponsors provide coffee and cake. The talented Spreetal brass musicians provide the musical accompaniment. A lovely start to a festive day!
The official start of the retail and restaurant mile is at 11:00 a.m., followed by a very special moment: Mayor Marco Babenz will tap a keg of free beer at 11:30 a.m. Calau.de reports that the salute of the Schützenguild zu Calau 1572 e.V. appropriately marks the start of the festival. The program extends into the evening and promises entertainment for the whole family.
City competition and activities for young and old
The city competition organized by enviaM and MITGAS will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitors can get active here, because for every kilometer collected there is money for the youth fire brigades and Body and Dance Calau e.V. The children can also demonstrate their skills on the children's bike route and receive a free ticket to the Calau adventure pool.
The musical program begins at 2:00 p.m. in the festival tent, where the brothers Simon and Tobias Tulenz provide a celebratory setting with their instrumental guitar music. From 4:00 p.m. the Body and Dance Calau e.V. and the Calauer Fanfaren will take over and will delight the audience with their performance. It is particularly worth mentioning that Andreas Schenker will be on stage at 4:30 p.m. and DJ Matze will be playing hits from the 90s, 2000s and current charts from 5:30 p.m.
Evening highlights and the big conclusion
A special highlight of the evening will be the party band Mr. Feelgood, which will provide the atmosphere from 8 p.m. The traditional lantern parade will take place at 8:30 p.m., starting at the elementary school on Lindenstrasse. After the main act, the day ends comfortably with “canned music” by DJ Matze from midnight. And it's all free, because entry to all events on the city festival weekend is free!
In the city center there is also a dealer mile with culinary offerings and a showman park that has many attractions. The Calau information point and the special exhibition “Calau Train Station” in the House of Local History are also open on Saturday and Sunday.
