Cottbus City Festival 2025: closures and parking tips for visitors!
The city festival in Cottbus is just around the corner and there will be a lot going on in the city from June 20th to 22nd, 2025. Preparations are already in full swing, which also entails some notable traffic and parking regulations. City residents and festival visitors should prepare for numerous closures that will come into force from June 16, 2025.
As LR Online reports, the post office parking lot will be closed from June 16, 2025, 6 p.m., followed by the parking lot on Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Straße from June 17 2025, 8 a.m. will no longer be accessible. From June 19, 2025, 8 a.m., Marktstrasse between Neumarkt and Altmarkt as well as Klosterstrasse from the Oberkirchplatz parking lot will be completely closed. The traffic disruptions will then peak on June 20, 2025, with further closures in Berliner Straße/Altmarkt and other central areas.
Important access regulations for residents
The upcoming changes also affect residents. They must adhere to certain access regulations in order to be able to access their residential areas. Access to Kreuzgasse and Münzstraße is only possible via Sandower Straße, while Klosterstraße and Mönchsgasse can only be reached via Bahnhofstraße. Anyone who lives on Mauerstrasse, Marktstrasse and Mühlenstrasse will also have to take the detour via Berliner Strasse. It is also pointed out that residents should carry identity cards with them in order to gain access to the residential areas (see Radio Cottbus).
We recommend that festival visitors use the parking garages in Blechen Carré, Neustädter Platz or the P&R spaces at the Energie Stadium and the main train station. A special treat for visitors: parking is free on Sundays!
Security concept for the city festival
In view of the large number of guests expected, the city of Cottbus has developed a comprehensive traffic and safety concept. Traffic flows in the city center will sometimes be completely stopped on the festival weekend. A central security center will be set up at Berliner Straße 154, which will be accessible to all visitors. The security precautions include support from the police, public order office and a private security service. Strict rules apply on the festival grounds: weapons, drugs, glass bottles and pyrotechnics are prohibited, and checks regarding the protection of minors are also being carried out more intensively (according to Radio Cottbus).
With this in mind: Don't miss the city festival in Cottbus! Be well prepared for the lockdowns and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Further information can also be found in the city festival flyer.
