The football scene in Brandenburg is bringing exciting news again. Today, June 16, 2025, the *Sportmix Energie Cottbus* will focus on events that are exciting for both the players and the fans. The draw for the first round of the DFB Cup in particular caused a lot of excitement.

FC Energie Cottbus, who qualified for the DFB Cup by winning the Brandenburg State Cup against SV Babelsberg 3-1, will face Hannover 96 in the first round. The Lower Saxony team, who finished ninth in the 2nd Bundesliga last season, are not going into the game as easy opponents. As Heidelberg24 reports, the draw will take place on ZDF and was carried out by Owen Ansah.

Exciting results in the district league

In the district league, champions *Sielow* have every reason to be happy: with a clear 7-2 win against city rivals Viktoria Cottbus, the club scored their 100th goal of the season. Christopher Knoll set the course for this impressive success with his goal. The result impressively shows that Sielow has a very special team on the pitch this season.

In addition to Sielow, other teams also performed well. Here is an overview of the other results:

  • Wacker II gewann gegen Kunersdorf mit 3:2
  • Welzow dominierte FSV Spremberg mit 8:1

Senior football in the fast lane

In the senior league, the players from *Energie Ü35* can look forward to a victory: They won 2-1 against Rot-Weiß Merzdorf at the Baltic Sea Sports Games in Willmersdorf and thus take the lead in the first district class. A real triumph for the experienced kickers.

Enthusiasm also in motorsport

But it's not just football that's going well, fans can also look forward to motorsport. Thomas and Kathrin Weller from Drebkau took a strong tenth place in the CYZ DUO sidecar class at the German Historic Motorcycle Team Championship in Most. A total of 27 teams took part and both managed to prevail.

Recreational sports for everyone

The *Athletics Club Cottbus (LCC)* also invites all sports enthusiasts to an event in the athletics stadium. Whether running, walking or Nordic walking – there is something for everyone here. The event is accompanied by music and afterwards there is the opportunity to end the day with a barbecue. Registrations are possible on site until 8 p.m. and the entry fee is only 3 euros.
