Energie Cottbus brings experienced left-back Leon Guwara from Ingolstadt
Less than three weeks before the start of the new season, there is a breath of fresh air in the squad at Energie Cottbus. The signing of Leon Guwara was announced on Tuesday, while Justin Butler signed his new commitment to Lausitz on Monday. Guwara, a 29-year-old left-back, comes from FC Ingolstadt and brings with him a wealth of experience, which he gained in his 44 first division games in the Netherlands as well as in 63 matches in the 2nd Bundesliga and 44 games in the 3rd division. Head coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz emphasizes the need for action in the left-back position due to the numerous departures in the team.
After Guwara completed a three-week trial training session with the third division team, he has now been permanently signed. The anticipation for the new season is increasing because the team will leave for the training camp in Austria on Thursday, where they will prepare intensively for the games. The first competitive game in the 3rd league is against 1. FC Saarbrücken on August 2nd, and fans can hope for an exciting season.

Before the start of the season, Cottbus didn't just focus on Guwara and Butler. Other newcomers are also in the starting blocks: Ted Tattermusch, a 1.94 meter tall striker, moves from FC Carl Zeiss Jena, while Theo Ogbidi and Moritz Hannemann strengthen the offensive with their goal instinct. In addition, Finn Heidrich, captain of the A-youth team, is moving up to the professional squad.

A look into the club's history
Energie Cottbus, founded on January 31, 1966, has an eventful history behind it. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the club established itself in professional football and celebrated great success, including its first promotion to the Bundesliga in 2000. After a challenging phase in recent years, the Cottbus team managed to return to the 3rd division after winning the Regionalliga Northeast championship.
The official club name is Football Club Energie Cottbus, and the home stadium, the Stadion der Friendship, has space for 22,528 spectators.
