Record participation at the 58th International Drawing Competition in Schwedt!
The international drawing competition Flow had record participation this year and is now being held in Schwedt for the 58th time. With an impressive 2,537 entries from all over the world, including participants from Great Britain for the first time, the competition environment is more varied than ever before. How Uckermark courier reports, an exhibition of the most beautiful works of art will be on display at the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt for two weeks from September 17th.
The impressive number of entries shows how much interest there is in this creative competition. The works, which will be evaluated by a six-member jury, cover topics such as childhood experiences and environmental awareness. What is particularly pleasing is that there are also 18 entries from Prenzlau, including a group work from Kita Wunderland and Waldhofschule Templin entitled “Our Dreams”. This was created in the manga drawing group and combines watercolor painting with manga techniques.
Support from local partners
The competition prizes are donated by District Administrator Karina Dörk and Mayor Henrik Sommer and underline the local commitment to art and culture. There has been some uncertainty recently on the financial side of the competition, but funding now appears to be secured. However, Vice Mayor Silvio Moritz makes no secret of the fact that there are financial challenges for the city of Schwedt.
The Uckermärkische Bühnen also invite you to an exciting open day on May 1st. Here visitors have the opportunity to look behind the scenes of the make-up, tailoring and props. The stage technicians don't miss out either; they show off their craft in a technology show on the stage in the Great Hall. Again Northern Courier reports, there is also an entertaining stage program that provides insights into the coming 2023/24 season.
Cultural highlights in Schwedt
A special highlight are the upcoming summer productions such as “Robin Hood” and “ComeBack!” on the Odertalbühne. An activity area with games is available for children in the European Huguenot Park, while juggler markets with craft demonstrations provide additional entertainment. At the end of the day, guests can expect a “hip-pop” concert by Lucia Aurich and Daniel Hilpert from Berlin – entry is free!
These events clearly show that in Schwedt great attention is paid to cultural offerings that delight both young and old. The commitment of the city and the Uckermärkische Bühnen makes Schwedt a lively cultural location.
