Student exchange in Prenzlau: A week full of French experiences!

In March, the renowned Christa and Peter Scherpf High School in Prenzlau undertook a remarkable student exchange with France. Around 15 motivated 10th grade students made their way to the charming town of Bressuire to visit the Lycée Maurice Genevoix for a week. This initiative not only aims to deepen language skills, but also to promote courage, openness and personal responsibility, as nordkurier.de reports.

The participating students lived with host families and thus gained a deep insight into everyday life in France. Headmaster Ludger Melters and French teacher Ulrike Langer accompanied the group on their adventure. This type of exchange not only supports personal development, but also enables young people to try out themselves and gain new experiences.

A path to intercultural understanding

The exchange gave the students the opportunity to explore the differences in everyday school life as well as in leisure activities and social life between France and Germany. They initially encountered communication difficulties, which were, however, overcome primarily by using English. When we met again in the Uckermark, these initial challenges had largely been overcome, which shows how exchange programs contribute to strengthening intercultural competencies, as tausch-macht-schule.org states.

The young people learned a lot about the strict hierarchy in the French school system, while in Germany they enjoy more freedom. Meanwhile, there were also exciting joint activities, including a day in the Bundestag in Berlin, a canoe tour, a dragon boat taster course, a visit to St. Mary's Church as well as a theater workshop and a dance lesson. These diverse experiences provide an insight into how to deal positively with diversity and promote social cohesion.

Personal development and new perspectives

The week culminated in a party that was described as the highlight of the trip. Exchange programs not only offer unique educational and life experiences, they also promote tolerance, openness and adaptability, as is also explained on klassezimmer.de. By using the language every day, participants improve their language skills more quickly. Such experiences shape young people and prepare them for a successful professional future.

The organizers of the trip hope to be able to attract families to this enriching project again next year. A step towards understanding and more personal development that promotes acceptance and friendship between nations!
