Road closure near Wittenberge: Drivers have to be patient!
The road construction work between the Weisen roundabout and Wittenberge continues to cause frustration among drivers. Since March 19th, they have had to expect considerable waiting times at the Bentwischer Weg traffic light intersection with the B189. They are often stuck in traffic for three to four red lights before they can finally get onto the busy federal highway. The reason for this inconvenience is the closure of State Road 11 between the Hartwigtunnel and the Weisen roundabout.
While the construction work, which has been underway since mid-March, is progressing, the Hartwig Tunnel remains accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. The project, which includes the renewal of the road and cycle path in the Waldhaus part of the community, was originally supposed to take around three months. Official director Torsten Jacob announced on May 27th that the final asphalting should be completed around June 10th. But the reality is different: the closure remains in place and the work has not been completed as announced.
Current construction progress
Steffen Streu, the press spokesman for the Brandenburg State Road Agency, informed that the asphalt work has now been completed. Currently, teams are focused on banquets and markings. According to the latest information, the measure should be completed by the beginning of July at the latest, and the state road could then be reopened to traffic. Until then, drivers in the area must continue to be patient.
Traffic forecasts and congestion information
Another useful source of information is the Traffic jam card, which provides users with real-time traffic jam information. Traffic jams when driving are often caused by tailgating or sudden braking. In 2023, there were already around 723,000 traffic jams in Germany, which represents an increase compared to the previous year. Stress in traffic jams can also lead to aggressiveness. If you want to keep your nerves, you should use tips to avoid stress: take deep breaths, listen to music or take a break.
Nobody can currently predict exactly how long the diversions and waiting times will last. But one thing is certain: patience and a good hand when planning routes are currently required. Stay tuned so you don't miss any current developments!
