Rat plague hits Neuruppin: Big band night and new meeting places!

A fresh wind is blowing through the Fontanestadt Neuruppin! Comprehensive rat control will begin on the city's popular waterfront from June 16, 2025, an important step to improve the quality of life in the region. This measure is part of a larger commitment to bring the city into shape, including cultural events and urban development projects.

On June 17th, the Big Band Night will be celebrated on the school square, an event that starts at 7:30 p.m. and is part of the cooperation project “YOUR PARK. YOUR CITY.” takes place. On this occasion, the local BigBrass Band and the LiHi Bigband from Bad Kreuznach will provide musical highlights and put visitors in a festive mood. Promoting this project in a targeted manner is not only entertaining, but also an important part of urban development [neuruppin.de].

Attractive offers and participation activities

Parallel to the Big Band Night, every Wednesday in June from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. there is the opportunity to take part in “Make Art”. Here, creative minds of all ages can work together with three talented artists and live out their artistic skills. The small stage on the Future test field opened at the beginning of June and is providing additional cultural impulses in the city.

Another highlight are the new raised beds and benches, which were designed on the church square by members of the Climate and Everyday Association and the Beautification Association. These green oases now offer a comfortable place to stay, which the two clubs will continue to cultivate. AGFK Brandenburg emphasizes that these measures, which also include the expansion of cycle paths and pedestrian paths, are part of an overall comprehensive PARK STRATEGY.

Focus on urban development

With funding of 160,000 euros from the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction, Neuruppin can further advance the design and revitalization of the city park. The project “YOUR PARK. YOUR CITY.” lays the foundation for a sustainable urban development concept that aims to transform Neuruppin into a place of encounter and movement. Citizens are invited to actively participate in the upcoming vote on the beach volleyball court on Braschplatz, which runs until June 15th.

The ongoing urbanization activities and projects show how serious the city is about creating a modern, vibrant environment. The upcoming DEIN PARKfest on September 21, 2024 could be the culmination of previous efforts and the link to future urban development, as it promises creative workshops, sporting activities and a diverse culinary experience.
